The Academy of Country Music has expanded its Entertainer of the Year category, won by Carrie Underwood in 2009, from five nominees to eight for the 2010 ACM Awards show to be held in Las Vegas next April.
The catagory will once again be determined by fan voting.
The ACM has also now combined the top new male vocalist and top new female vocalist nominees into a single category as top new solo artist. Additionally, the top new vocal duo or group field will be expanded into two separate categories -- top new vocal duo and top new vocal group. These will also be fan voted awards.
The winners in the new artist categories will be nominated for Best New Artist (overall).
