Lee Kernaghan Expresses Sorrow For Bush Fire Victims

National icon and 2008 Australian of the Year Lee Kernaghan has released a statement expressing his seep sorrow for Australians affected by the tragic Victorian bush fires.

"After watching the worst natural disaster this country has experienced, I wish to express my deep sorrow for those Australians affected through this tragic event," said Kernaghan.

"My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, friends and family.

"To the communities who in some cases have lost all, one can only feel helpless as these shocking events have unfurled before our very eyes.

"The only comfort and strength that can be taken from such events is the knowledge that we, as Australians, will rally together to help our mates who are in desperate need.

"On a personal note, this Thursday I will travel to Yea to meet with families and volunteers who have endured so much during this crisis.

"I look forward to lending a hand on the Nine Networks fundraising Telethon "Australia Unites" which will provide an opportunity for all of us to come together to show our support.

"With love and regards, Lee Kernaghan."
