Queensland Country Music Awards Winners Announced

The winners of the very first Queensland Country Music Awards, held at the Charters Towers Country Music Festival on friday night have been announced.

And the winners were:

Queensland Male Vocalist of the Year  Troy Cassar-Daley - I Love This Place

Queensland Female Vocalist of the Year  Harmony James - Precious Little 

Queensland Group or Duo of the Year Smokin’ Crawdads - She’s Crazy for Leavin’ 

Queensland New Talent of the Year  Shea Fisher - Getaway Heart 

Queensland Bush Ballad/Heritage Track of the Year  Dean Perrett - The Dust of Kalkadoon

Queensland Instrumental of the Year  Michael Fix - Light at the End of the Tunnel

Queensland Vocal Collaboration of the Year Troy Cassar-Daley & The McClymonts - Ain’t Gonna Change for You

Queensland Country Music Awards Finalists Announced

Shea Fisher

Brisbane singer, songwriter and musician Brendan Radford heads the list of finalists for this year’s Queensland Country Music Awards, scoring a berth in four categories. He is a finalist for the Male Vocalist, Bush Ballad/Heritage, Instrumental and Vocal Collaboration categories – the last of them with Casey Watt.

Up and comer Harmony James, has made the finals in three categories: Female Vocalist, Bush Ballad/Heritage and Vocal Collaboration (with The Flood’s Kevin Bennett).

Artists who received two finals nominations include Shea Fisher (picutured), Troy Cassar-Daley, Dean PerrettJayson Watkins, The Bobkatz and The Smokin’ Crawdads.

Other major Australian stars are featured in the list of finalists include Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand, James Blundell and Tania Kernaghan.

The 2010 Queensland Country Music Awards will be presented on Friday, 30 April as part of the Charters Towers Country Music Festival.

The Charters Towers Country Music Festival will take place over the Queensland May Day long weekend, from Friday, 30 April to Sunday, 2 May.

US based Australian pop-country artist Shea Fisher returned to Australia over the Christmas period to visit family and make some special appearances in support of her second album, Shea.

Shea Fisher CMT Awards 2009Shea Fisher recently began her US career and has been keeping very busy – appearing at major festivals, awards shows and visiting radio stations across America.

Back home in Australia, Shea Fisher's latest single ‘Suitcase'hjust hit #1 on the Country Music Channel (CMC) Top 30 Countdown.

Shea has established herself as one of the most popular new artists on CMC. All four of her music videos have now topped the CMC Chart.

‘Suitcase' has also appeared on Video Hits and has aired on Austereo's “Australia First” program.

Shea Fisher has two tracks in The Music Network's National Top 20 Country Airplay Chart – “Don't Chase Me' at #4 and “Suitcase' at #11.

Action From CMA Music Festival 2009

The biggest counry music festival on the planet, the annual CMA Music Festival in Downtown Nashville has just finished up. 

Australian artists appearing at the festival included The McClymonts, Shea Fisher, Kirsty Lee Akers, Dianna Corcoran and Peter McWhirter.

Festival goers enjoyed four nights of stadium shows from many of US country's biggest stars.

The final night included performances from Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, John Rich, Sugarland and Miranda Lambert.

Shea Fisher On Tour In The US!

Shea Fisher is a busy girl right now. She is both promoting her new album Shea in Australia and visiting radio stations across the US in preparation for her first single release next June.

Her new single 'Suitcase' will premiere on CMC on Saturday May 9 while the US premiere of her fantastic new clip 'Don't Chase Me' airs in early June.

Shea has been building up plenty of frequent flyer points as she flys back and forth to promote her releases in both countries.
